Walk Sequence Your Customer List – Save Postage

Our client asked us to analyze a 75,000-customer list. We discovered that records were located around several locations. That’s an ideal situation for walk saturation postal savings!
After appending walk sequence numbers and presorting the file, it was 91% qualified for saturation and SCF postal discounts.
The bottom line: a postal saving of $4,200 on the mailing!

What is Resident - Occupant - Mailing List

The resident list consists of approximately 120,000,000 addresses in the United States. This saturation list includes homes, apartments, rural routes, mobile homes and Post Offices boxes. There are no names of individuals attached to these addresses.

The list will contain the word “Resident”. As an option, you can change the name field to another title of your choice such as “To Our Neighbor At”, depending on the scope of the message in your marketing piece. But you must check with your local Post Office representative for approval on the other choices.

The resident list is already in “walk sequence” which places the mail in the order that the mail carrier delivers it. This process saves the Post Office much of the sorting work and that savings is passed along to you in the form of discounted postal rates and faster delivery.

Besides selecting by dwelling type [listed above] you can select by:
-Median Income
-Median Age
We will be happy to run special counts for you.

Mailing to a Resident List & Customer List?

A client asked how they could mail to the area around their store using our resident list [or residential list or occupant list] and still communicate to their customers around the store.
There are two methods to accomplish this.
  1. If they want to send the same message to customers and prospects, then just overlay the customer list on the resident list and have customer names and that address added to the resident list.
  2. If the messages to customers and prospects are different merge purge the customer and resident list by address and create two separate lists. The resident list, without their customers; the second would be a customer only list.

P.S. The further add personalization and increase response the client used our Resident Plus list and added prospect names to the resident list

What’s so great about our Resident Plus list?

It’s what the list can do for you. Here’s a quick summary:

  • You get the largest postage savings, because it is “walk-sequenced” mail for carriers.
  • Resident Plus saturates your target selling area, giving you the peace of mind that only such thorough coverage can bring.
  • Your clients feel closer to you, because personalization by contact name is an option, with 70% of the households listed by name.
  • Faster delivery means you can get your offers for new products/services to mailboxes in record time. Businesses can become part of the mix too, because they can be added in walk sequence.

Resident List: Mailing To Multi-Family Households

More families are consolidating households these days. This trend finds two, three or even four families living under the same roof. Mailing to the right person when multiple families share one address can be a challenge for direct marketers.

Strategies to reach the right person in a home shared by several families:

  • One per address – Select only one head of household, and your benefit is that only one mailing piece would be sent to the home.
  • One per household – Let’s say three families live together. This option allows you to select all three individuals with unique last names. As a result, you reach three decision makers at one address, by getting three mailing pieces into the home.

Depending on the product or service offered, these different strategies spell s-u-c-c-e-s-s for direct marketers.
